Stuck on BVI…British Virgin Island-Tortola-Road town (check the map for more detailed view), for the last week, after two days at sea the wind started to die so we had to use the engine. Unfortunately the stern gland (I didn’t know what it was either) fialed. Basically the seal between the hull and the propeller shaft doesn’t work as it should be and running the engine means water comes in. Not a lot but for safety reason we have to replace it. So here we are waiting for DHL to do their job as fast as trhey can and get it replaced. The first couple of days by the swimming pool were ok, then we got bored so we hired a car and started exploring the island. That wore off quickly and after two more days we were back at the pool…now we are getting a bit bored since our minds are with the transatlantic and being here right now it’s a bit of a waste of time and in addition it will delay our plans. Anyway we can’t complain really.
The lastest news just came in is that UKSA is flying an ex student here to bring in the replacement part, he will be here tomorrow, saturday, unfortunately we will only be able to lift the boat and do the work on tuesdo so all their effort and money have not been spent very well…and again not my problem either.
Here it’s hot right now and I’m going for a swim inthe pool.
Bye.
