"The romance of sailing is undeniable. Gliding through the water, the wind in your hair and the sun on your face is as good as it gets – thought it isn't always so blissful. When there's a gale blowing and your crew mates are bent over the side, bidding farewell to their lunch, things may not seem so rosy. But that's the beauty of going to sea – you never know quite what to expect. There is always a new lesson to be learnt or a new delight to be experienced."

We are in New Zealand

Today ,the 18th November 2008, at 0312 we tied our lines to the quarantine dock in Opua.

Two years ago, on the 18th of November 2006, we started our sailing adventure and departed from Savona in Italy. It took us 18 640 miles to get here and on the way we visited 20 different countries. The most memorable in our hearts are Panama, Mexico and Vava'u Group in Tonga.

Stay tuned for more blogs about NZ.

And the winner is... ODDITY! A 41 feet long, epoxy made racing yacht built in 1974 by Tartan Ohio in America, the designer Sparkman & Steven.Well done, John and Debbie!

Loved your website - took us back over 20 years to our arrival in Opua on 35 foot sloop, Bunyip in 1985. We spent many months in the Bay of Isalnd and we especially enjoyed being tied up in the pool at Keri Keri. From there you could ride your bike to the town , and take a swim in the waterfalls of the river on the way home. Check at the old store and ask if John Wood ( a famous local sailor ) is still living there.

Good sailing,
